Touro Synagogue. Newport, Rhode Island (1763)
Touro is the oldest synagogue building in the U.S., and the only one to survive the colonial era.
The congregation was founded by the descendants of "Marranos" who fled the inquisition of Spain and Portugal. Item #: RMTZ06
